China Development Bank Financial Leasing (CDB Leasing), its subsidiary CDB Aviation, and Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC) jointly hosted a seminar on the global expansion of Chinese commercial aircraft in Shenzhen from May 12th to 14th, 2025. The event, themed “Leveraging Financial Leasing to Promote the Global Expansion of Chinese Commercial Aircraft,” brought together key leaders of the three companies to explore new strategies for introducing Chinese commercial aircraft to the international market. Attendees included He Dongfeng, Chairman of COMAC, Zhang Xiaoguang, Deputy General Manager of COMAC, and Zhang Jun, Director of the Board Office of COMAC, Ma Hong, Chairman of CDB Leasing, and Chen Jie, CEO of CDB Aviation.
Mr. He presented an overview of COMAC’s history, mission, and the latest progress on its major aircraft projects, emphasizing the pivotal role of financial leasing in the global expansion of Chinese commercial aircraft. Ms. Ma reaffirmed CDB Leasing will actively implement the requirements of the China Development Bank to maintain close partnership with COMAC. She stated that CDB Leasing will leverage its cross-border funding capabilities and extensive global customer network to offer financial services throughout the entire lifecycle of Chinese commercial aircraft—from research and development and manufacturing to sales and operations—thereby supporting their global expansion.
COMAC’s chief expert and deputy chief designer for the C919 and C929 models delivered detailed reports on the design concepts, performance advantages, and latest developments of both aircraft. Additionally, COMAC showcased its technological innovations in large aircraft and intelligent manufacturing, and provided an update on the progress of its operational support and guarantee systems. Chen Jie led the CDB Aviation team in an in-depth discussion with COMAC about how financial leasing can support the global growth of Chinese commercial aircraft. The discussion focused on key issues such as international market expansion strategies, customer financing solutions, risk management mechanisms, and after-sales service systems. They proposed to jointly create a business model that integrates the supply chain and finance to drive international growth.
Looking ahead, CDB Leasing and CDB Aviation will combine their global business network and extensive expertise in aircraft leasing to support the steady international expansion of Chinese commercial aircraft through the efficient operation of international platforms, strategic business planning, and vigorous market development. They will further deepen the cooperation with COMAC to propel Chinese large aircraft onto the global stage.
